Number One In Google With backlinks?

February 3rd, 2009

How important is being number one in Google to anyone nowadays? VERY! With the credit crunch driving our economy in to deeper recession and a rumour depression, advertising budgets are cut to a minimum especially when your a one man operation, do you really have the money to spend when keywords are $22+ a click? I don’t, this is even more important when your starting up. As a professional blogger and seo consultant i see many people wasting capital on when they could be buying more resources such as domains or even taking an extra no-internet holiday in the Carribean.

So what about backlinks? some people say content is king, this is only about 20% of the true story, when trying to make money online its more about how popular an article is than how great an article is. Alright, a shit article will get you know where but how much of google is actually spam? Even spam articles will be listed above you in google that make no sense and are irrevelant but you know what, they have more backlinks and listed higher!

So how do you get more backlinks, it is difficult when your working in an area with no established webmaster or pro blogger community such as uk finance No one will ever link to your blog about finance unless you carry indepth finance articles and since im not an economist it is difficult to find links. So how do you get to number one in google for some terms? Backlinks.. and how do you get them? Blog! Yes have a domain with your main finance or whatever blog running on it and then link from free hosts. Of course you will have to create meaningful content and a lot of it. i would guess a hundred backlinks to your blog will be a start! thats one hundred articles. Is this a lot of work? yes it is but dont be worried, many free blog and hub sites allow you to run your own adsense on their page while they take a cut.

So who do i use? There are hundreds out there online but some of the better ones are listed below.

Squidoo is the child of seth godin where you can create “lens” which are just pages with some extra features

HubPages is similar to squidoo, both allow you to create pages showing off your content and allow you to link to your pages and affiliates.

blogger.com is  googles blog website which is just a normal blog and allows you to create many blogs and articles which can help you promote your affiliates and your main blog

Twitter.com if you have a lot of friends on twitter then you can use this to promote your websites and build up backlinks.

Wordpress.com A hosted wordpress site, just like installing on your server with slightly less control but worth it.

Gather.com is slightly different but you can post and share your thoughts

Creating meaningful content on these sites and link them to similar posts on your blog will always warant more click throughs and better search ranking.  So consider then rather than just creating spam blogs. its easy to make money online, making a lot is the hard bit!

update on the finance blog

January 27th, 2009

Unfortunately the turnaround on applying to some of the programs and actually being accepted is quite a long time in terms of the internet, but this is to be accepted when dealing with financial institutes, my blog has been rejected a few times but hopefully with some content it will be accepeted soon. With only one post there isnt much oppurtunity to gather much search engine traffic and the only way feasible is to target keywords with a ppc campaign.

Unfortunately a l0t of the programs that you deal with on commission junction and similar sites have people operating paid search programs through cpc/ppc and they dont allow you to promote on certain keywords and this just makes your job harder but luckily enough, if you know what your doing it will be easy enough.

But once i do get a few more programs i will start to build hardlinks and submit the blog to more places and hopefully the big bucks adsense and commision from sales will be coming my way.

This was just a short update in case you where wondering why i had not posted about the uk finance blog.

Highest paid keywords with adsense

January 11th, 2009

For key words targetting with adsense am going to post a list i found of the topkeywords and the average payout with them! I use this list when I am building websites to target which websites will make me money. From domain names to mortgage advice to gambling, these are the ones that pay the most, unfortunately google wont pay out these amounts on new sites until you reach a certain level!

Usually i create the domain or sub domain for the blog or site i am using the term im targetting then create a few posts and run adsense over the top of it. An example would be- domain name- I would create domain-name.follor.com then any related terms would be in the title of the site and post titles.

keywords, search engine optimization and subdomain techniques!

January 7th, 2009

When i was working in adult and targeting many different search terms i used sub domains! I was usually building sites to forget about, what i mean i would spend a couple of hours developing a website or setting up a blog with some posts then go of and promote the site, that would be it, i would never update.

This is a technique employed by a lot of people making their income online, but a lot of these guys go and buy and endless amount of domains, i buy one, host it on a shared hosting account with unlimited sub domains. I then would do the same on a different shared hosting account elsewhere which then let me build back links between similar sites.

Heres how I discovered keywords and targeted the search terms.

  1. To start with i would go brainstorm the keywords i was targeting- webmaster
  2. To help with this i used a tool overture but i cant seem to find it any more but google luckily enough has its own version which is similar- Google keyword tool
  3. I then would use this tool to check which keyword or search term got the most terms.
  4. Taking this information i would google it and see what the competition was like, if there was none, great! But if the search results where overloaded with pages targeted to this search term it would make it difficult but i would quit.
  5. I would create my sub domain and then get to work.
  6. If i was going to blog on this site i would upload wordpress and place the search term in the page title and create the categories with the search term in them-

Say skydiving was my search term

  • The domain would read something like http://skydiving.follor.com
  • The categories that my posts on the blog fell into would be skydiving pics, skydiving stories, skydiving videos, skydiving info and so on
  • Also i would include all this in the title “Skydiving pics, info, videos and stories”
  • The title of each post would have skydiving in it, an example would be “Skydiving in Ireland” which would fit into all categories
  • The final trick is to make sure you have permalinks enable in the wordpress settings to include the name in the URL

Thats it for today, hopefully i have inspired you to how to target keywords and search terms cheaply without having to buy a lot of domains, and by the way i have no interest in skydiving, the term was the first thing that popped into my head while writing this post.
